Euro Cable Private Limited Company, an Ethio-Turkish joint venture established in 2007, is the first private manufacturer of electrical cables in Ethiopia.

Demes Kablo Sanayi Ticaret Limited Şirketi, the Turkish partner in the enterprise, is a company with about 40 years of direct experience in the sector.

The owners of Glorious Private Limited Company, a renowned national trading company, are the other major shareholders.

Euro Cable has a wide network of distributors and retail customers and a dominant market share in the private sector.

The foreign partners’ expertise in engineering and manufacturing technology has been critically important for the operations, building further on the best and latest relevant global science.

Euro Cable has always given the highest emphasis to excellence. Its products all comply with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and other European standards, and the company has obtained ISO9001 and ISO14001 certifications.

Consequently, it has been able to exploit the large and growing demand in Ethiopia for high-quality wires and cables. Early on, in the absence of domestic manufacturing capacity, substandard and under-gage imports dominated the market.

The threat to safety that they once posed is now largely gone. Thanks mostly to Euro Cable’s promotional efforts, wires, and cables not meeting standard specifications are actually not locally competitive anymore.
